# Voxis app tour: every panel, step by step

A guided tour of the Voxis app: scenario, audio source, languages, translation stream, on-screen text, Meeting panel, settings, history and shortcuts. This is the text version of the interactive tour: every chapter’s headline, text and notes.

## One window. One control, one sentence.

App tour

Controls in the left rail, the translation stream in the middle, and a strip on top that tells you what the session is doing. The rule is simple: one control, one sentence. Anything more sits behind the ⓘ.

- The app's own look: a dark ground and one warm accent.
- Every section's ⓘ says what it does, what most people pick, and the ⚠ to watch.

## One way, or two?

Scenario

Video & Game translates everything the computer plays, one way. Meeting is two-way — you and the other party — and needs headphones and a virtual microphone. Without one, the session will not start.

- When the free taste runs out, Meeting shows a lock icon.
- Meeting ignores the Source choice.

## System audio. Or an input device.

Source

System audio takes everything playing on the computer and leaves Voxis's own voice out. Input device translates the microphone, mixer or line-in you pick. For most people: System audio.

- Windows “Listen to this device” is invisible to System audio; use Input device instead.
- An interface in ASIO mode is not listed.

## What you hear. What they hear.

Languages

Pick the language you want to hear. You never pick the spoken one; it's detected on its own. In Meeting, the second picker sets the language the other side hears you in, and ⇄ swaps the two and restarts the session. On the free plan all 79 languages are translated, but not all are spoken.

- No source-language picker, on purpose.
- Voice gender and dubbing exist only in some languages (Settings › Translation › Voice).

## Source on top. Your translation below.

Translation stream

Captions arrive word by word: a grey source line on top, the translation bubble with an amber caret below. When a second voice joins, S1/S2 labels appear; in Meeting, “Them” and “Me”. Skip jumps past the current sentence. Fast mode shows captions without waiting for the voice and speeds a lagging voice up to 1.5× without changing pitch.

- The source line attaches when the turn ends; until then the live SOURCE line above stands in.
- S1/S2 run on your device; the spoken translation keeps one voice.
- Skip only cuts the incoming direction.

## Original at 30%. Headphones on.

Original audio · Audio

Original audio (while speaking) sets how far the original drops while a sentence is translated; the default is 30%. Audio sets which device the translated voice plays on, and how loud; Sound check tells you whether Voxis can hear anything before you start. For most people: headphones as the output, volume at 100%.

- Ducking lowers the whole application, not just its speech.
- Speakers cause an echo in Meeting.

## Subtitles inside. On-screen text over everything.

Screen

Subtitles fill the stream inside the Voxis window. On-screen text is a separate bar that floats over a full-screen video or game and shows the translation only. Four looks, three sizes, top or bottom; Ctrl+Alt+O. For most people: subtitles on, and on-screen text on too while you watch full screen.

- Pick the look in Settings › General › Appearance; while it is on, changes apply instantly.
- The source line never appears in the on-screen text.

## Three controls. Meeting only.

Meeting panel

Three controls that only appear in Meeting. Your voice: the real microphone that picks you up; CABLE isn't listed here, and that's normal. Names: yours and the other person's go through exactly as written, never translated. Listen to my translation: you hear what the other side hears; turn it on only with headphones.

- The cable is hidden in Voxis's lists; you pick it in the meeting app.
- One-word replies can be mistranslated; say “Yes, alright”.

## What's the session doing? The bar tells you.

Top bar

The status pill reads Idle, Connecting or Active, and its dot shows the mode: amber for Video, blue for Meeting. Next to it, the meter and dB: if they don't move while sound is clearly playing, the problem is capture, not translation. The quota bar shows your minutes left; on the free tier a chip counts down the Pro taste and switches to the free voice when it ends. On the right: Report a problem, theme, History, Settings.

- Report: a scrubbed log plus diagnostics; the transcript only if you tick the box.
- The quota bar is hidden on BYOK.

:   Diagnostics are captured the moment you open the dialog, so send right after the problem.

## Seven tabs. Most changes apply instantly.

Settings

General: interface language, theme, on-screen text look, speaker labels. Audio: devices, sound check, audio recording (WAV). Translation: profile, voice, terms. Saving: transcript folder and formats. Then Keyboard shortcuts, Membership and About. For most people: the defaults, and the profile closest to what you watch.

- The Account and key section appears only for BYOK unlock buyers: it takes your own Google Gemini or Alibaba Qwen API key and recognises the provider from its prefix.
- Terms go to every target language; at most 200.
- Audio recording (WAV) is Video & Game only.
- Click any tab; the automatic tour then waits 12 seconds.

:   A profile is not a “quality mode”: it bundles speech-detection sensitivity and ducking.

## Search, star, edit, export.

History

Every session is saved to its own folder: when it stops, and every couple of minutes while it runs. Search your history, star a session, edit a line, export bilingual TXT, SRT or VTT. The AI summary is on paid plans and runs only when you ask.

- Delete removes the whole folder; starred sessions are exempt from cleanup.
- Only the text and the source line are editable; timings stay put.

## Keys that work in the background.

Keyboard shortcuts

Ctrl+Alt+1 Video & Game, Ctrl+Alt+2 Meeting, Ctrl+Alt+0 Stop, Ctrl+Alt+O on-screen text. They work while Voxis is in the background; change them in Settings › Keyboard shortcuts. The intro tour can be replayed from Settings › General.

- Click a shortcut box and press the new combination.

:   Shortcuts exist only in the Windows app.
