Voxis is two-way capable on Discord voice calls: you can hear other people in a call translated into your language, and — optionally — send your own voice translated back so they hear you in theirs. It uses the same mechanism as any other two-way use case: system audio capture on the way in, a virtual microphone on the way out.
The routing, explained plainly
Incoming audio — whatever a Discord call is playing through your speakers — is captured, translated, and spoken back to your headphones. For the outgoing half, your microphone is translated and written into a virtual microphone device, which Discord then sends to the call in place of your normal mic input. From Discord's perspective, nothing unusual is happening: it just sees a microphone, the same as any other.
Setting it up
Join a Discord voice channel as normal, start Voxis, and pick the language you want to hear. To be understood back, point Discord's own input-device setting at the virtual microphone Voxis installs — a one-time check, since Discord (like most apps) doesn't always notice a default-device change automatically once a call is already running.
What happens without a virtual microphone installed
The outgoing half specifically depends on a virtual microphone being available. Without one, the session falls back to listen-only: you still hear everyone else translated, you just aren't translated back to them. Nothing errors out — the app labels the session as listen-only so it's clear which mode you're getting.
FAQ
Does a bot join my Discord server or channel? No — there's no bot account, no server integration, and no join request. Everything happens locally on your own machine at the audio level.
Does this work in a voice channel, or only in direct calls? The same mechanism works in either — it reads whatever Discord is playing through your speakers, regardless of whether that's a voice channel with several people or a one-on-one call.
Will this interfere with other Discord bots in my server? No — it has no relationship to server-side bots at all; it only affects audio on the device it's running on.
