What the plans actually differ on

Every plan translates all 79 languages. The difference is not what Voxis understands — it is what you hear.

Paid plans stream the translated voice from the cloud engine, so all 79 languages are spoken aloud.

The free tier speaks on your machine, not in the cloud — and which voices your machine has is what the two free columns above differ on. Either way the cloud still translates all 79: a language without a voice arrives as live subtitles instead of speech. Nothing breaks; you read it rather than hear it.

In the Windows and Linux app Voxis ships its own open neural voices and downloads the one you need on first use. Those exist for 35 of the 79; the other 44 are subtitles.

In the browser extension there is nowhere to run those voices, so it uses the ones your browser already has. On Windows that is 18 of the 79 in Chrome and 16 in Edge — the two Edge is missing are Hindi and Indonesian. The exact list depends on your browser and on the speech voices installed in your operating system, so a machine with extra language packs may speak more than the table shows. The extension tells you before you press Start when the language you picked has no voice on your machine.

01Is my language spoken on the free tier?
It depends on where you run it. On a paid plan all 79 languages are spoken aloud. On the free tier the Windows and Linux app speaks 35 of them with the open neural voices it ships and downloads on first use, and the browser extension speaks 18 in Chrome and 16 in Edge on Windows, because it borrows the voices your browser already has. The table above answers it language by language — the “Free voice” and “Subtitles only” filters narrow it in one click. A language with no voice is still translated; it arrives as live subtitles instead of speech.
02What is different in the browser extension?
The voice, and what it can hear. The extension has nowhere to run our own voices, so it uses the ones your browser already has — which makes the free-tier spoken list differ in both directions. Japanese, Korean, Hindi and Indonesian speak in the extension but arrive as subtitles in the app’s free tier; 21 languages, among them Vietnamese, Ukrainian, Czech, Greek, Swedish and Romanian, go the other way. On a paid plan both speak all 79, because the voice then comes from the cloud engine. The second difference is reach: the extension only ever hears a browser tab, while the Windows app captures whatever your PC is playing, games and desktop apps included.
03Do I have to pick the source language?
No. The spoken language is detected automatically, sentence by sentence — there is no source-language setting to find. Both pickers you see are target languages: one sets the language you hear, and in Meeting mode the second sets the language the other side hears.
04Can I choose a male or female voice?
On some languages. Voxis routes each target language to one of two cloud engines, and the voice-gender setting in the Windows app — in Settings: auto, female or male, set separately for each direction — takes effect only on the languages routed to the Qwen engine, currently 29 of the 79. On the rest the model picks the voice itself, and the app says so instead of pretending the setting works. The free tier’s local voices and the extension’s browser voices are fixed as well: one voice per language, no gender choice.
05What happens if a language has no voice?
Only the voice is missing — the translation still happens. The cloud translates all 79 languages either way, so a language with no voice on your path appears as live captions on screen instead of being spoken. Captions run alongside the voice on the spoken languages too, and in the Windows and Linux app you can export a session’s transcript afterwards as TXT, SRT or VTT, bilingual or translated-only.
