Voxis Browser Extension — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 21, 2026

1. Scope

This policy covers the Voxis browser extension for Chrome and Edge ("the extension"), operated by Davut Akça, an independent developer based in Türkiye. The Voxis desktop app and website are covered by our main Privacy Policy. For questions, contact our contact page or [email protected].

2. What the extension does

When you press Start, the extension captures the audio of your active browser tab, streams it to Google's Gemini Live API for translation, and plays back a spoken voice translation with live on-screen captions. That is its single purpose.

3. Data the extension handles

  • Tab audio (website content) — the audio of the active tab, captured only while a session is running, is streamed to Google's Gemini Live API to be translated. We do not store your audio or transcripts on our servers; captions are shown only in the extension popup on your device.
  • Authentication information — in account mode, your email and password are sent to voxislive.com to sign in, and a session token (JWT) is stored locally. In bring-your-own-key (BYOK) mode, your own Google Gemini API key is stored locally (chrome.storage.local) and sent only to Google — never to us.
  • Personally identifying information — in account mode only, your email address, used to sign in to your voxislive.com account.
  • Local preferences — your target language, voice, original-audio volume, auth mode, and a one-time onboarding flag, stored in chrome.storage.local on your device.

4. Where your data goes

  • Google (Gemini Live API) — receives the captured tab audio to perform the translation and returns translated audio. Subject to Google's privacy policy and API terms.
  • voxislive.com (account mode only) — sign-in, the per-session translation key, your plan quota, and usage-minute reporting (a session id and minute counts — never your audio).
  • BYOK mode — the extension contacts only Google's API. voxislive.com is never contacted and no usage or telemetry is sent.

5. What we do not collect

The extension does not collect your browsing history, does not track clicks, keystrokes, mouse movement or scrolling, and does not collect your location, health, or financial information. We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties, and we use it only for the single purpose of translation — never for advertising, creditworthiness, or lending.

6. Retention & deletion

We do not retain your audio or transcripts. In account mode, account and usage records are kept while your account is active; you can request deletion at any time via our contact page, and we will delete or anonymize them within 30 days, except where we must keep records for legal reasons. In BYOK mode there is no server-side data to delete — your key and settings live only on your device, and removing the extension removes them.

7. Security

Account passwords are stored hashed on our server. Your BYOK API key and the session key are kept on your own device and are sent only to Google for translation. All network traffic uses HTTPS / secure WebSockets.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. Türkiye's KVKK, UK GDPR, or EU GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these, contact [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (in Türkiye, the KVKK).

9. Children

The extension is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes & contact

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Questions? Reach us via our contact page or [email protected].
